The generation that put power back in one pair of hands

Somewhere in a person with this position is a point that does not move. Most of the character is negotiable, agreeable, even accommodating, and then a line is reached and the whole arrangement goes rigid without warning.

What is surprising from outside is how little the line resembles the surface. Somebody flexible about large matters becomes immovable about one apparently small thing, because that is where the survival material is stored.

Nothing about this is announced. The point is discovered by other people at the moment they cross it, which is also, quite often, when the person themselves finds out where it was.

The rage available here is not the flash that Aries is usually credited with. It is colder, arrives with a full account of the offence, and does not dissipate when the shouting would have finished.

Used well, it is the fuel behind a great deal of necessary refusal: this is the temperament that walks out of situations other people endure for years. Used badly, it burns the arrangement down while the grievance is still being verified.

What makes it manageable is time between the offence and the response, and that is the one resource this position is least willing to spend.

Destruction and starting over sit unusually close together in this position. When something is finished, it is not wound down; it is ended, and the next thing begins from nothing.

The capacity is real and genuinely useful in conditions where other people cling. The cost is everything that was salvageable and got demolished along with the rest, which is rarely noticed until later, since the relief of the clean break is immediate and total.

At collective scale this is the atmosphere in which authority is assumed to be illegitimate until it explains itself. Instructions are met with a question about who decided, and institutions that never had to answer that before find themselves answering.

The result is not chaos so much as a permanent renegotiation. Everyone inside the era finds this normal, and older arrangements that ran on unexamined deference stop working without anybody deliberately dismantling them.

What replaces deference is not disorder but paperwork: agreements that used to be understood now have to be written, argued for and periodically renewed.

It is not a personality of aggression. Most people with this position are unremarkable in ordinary conditions and only distinguishable under pressure, which is precisely when the placement becomes visible.

Nor is it a prediction about anybody's temper. Pluto stays in a sign for many years, so this describes a shared inheritance and the terms an era sets, not what any individual does with them.
