How to cast a chart
A natal chart is a personalized map of the starry sky captured at the exact moment of your birth. It correlates the precise astronomical positions of the planets within the zodiac signs and astrological houses, as well as the angular relationships (aspects) between them. This unique combination symbolically reflects your potential, innate talents, character traits, and major life themes.
The natal chart is calculated using the exact coordinates of your birthplace and time of birth.
Enter your date, time and place of birth. If you don't know the exact time, tick "I don't know my birth time" — the chart is built from the date alone: planets in signs and the aspects between them.
Calculations use a professional astronomical standard that ensures arc-second precision for planetary positions.
Questions about the natal chart
Your date, time and place of birth. The date sets where the planets were; the time and place set the Ascendant — the sign rising on the horizon — and how the twelve houses fall. If you can, take the time from your birth certificate rather than from memory.
Switch on "I don't know my birth time" and you still get the planets in signs and the aspects between them. You lose the Ascendant, the Midheaven and the houses: the rising sign changes roughly every two hours, so without the time it can't be pinned down. The Moon moves about 13° a day, so if it changed sign on your birthday, your Moon sign may be off too.
Planet positions come from the Swiss Ephemeris — the astronomical data professional astrology software runs on — to within an arc-second. Houses are Placidus by default; under "For astrologers" you can switch to Koch, Whole Sign, Equal or another system, or to the sidereal zodiac. Any date from 1850 to today works.
Yes, if you give it the chart and not just your birth date — a chatbot that works out planet positions on its own gets them wrong easily. Once the chart is calculated, "Copy for AI" turns it — planets, houses, aspects — into a ready prompt you can paste into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini. Or press "AI reading" and read the interpretation right here.
It's free and needs no account. The chart is calculated on our server and not saved there. Your browser remembers the last birth data you entered so the form is filled in next time; clearing this site's data in your browser removes it. If you ask for an AI reading, the chart's text is sent to the language model that writes it.
